Diabetic

There have been many studies that emphasize the importance of sleep for health. But new research suggests, children who sleep less than eight hours a day at increased risk for blood sugar or Pre-diabetes condition.

This was said by Dr. Zhijie Yu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai. He said the lack of sleep will affect blood sugar, excluding other factors such as age, gender, diet, physical activity, weight, and illness.

In his research, Yu and his team studied the link between sleep duration and blood sugar levels in 619 obese children and 617 non-obese children aged 3-6 years and to own no blood sugar problems.

From interviews with parents in mind differences in sleep time between obese and non obese children. Children with ideal weight average sleep eight hours or more.

Meanwhile, high blood sugar levels (135 mg/dl) was found in children who sleep less, both in obese and non obese children. For comparison, 110 mg/dl was categorized into Pre-diabetic and 126 mg/dl as diabetes.

According to Yu, as well as in adults, in children also found benefits of adequate sleep in stabilizing blood sugar levels. The results of this research published in Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Stop Smoking

No matter what the reason was when a person began to smoke, the health risks proven to be caused by smoking has many smokers doing whatever they can to stop smoking.

In order to stop smoking, a person needs to stop using all types of smoking tobacco products, which isn’t as easy as it sounds. Smoking tobacco contains a substance called nicotine, which is an alkaloid poison that occurs in tobacco. Nicotine is highly addictive, which is the reason why most people are not able to stop smoking.

There are a number of approaches a person can use when they are ready to stop smoking including the help of doctors and medicine. Most people have probably seen advertisements for a variety of products geared toward helping people to stop smoking. It is universally agreed upon that smoking is not safe or healthy for the smoker and those around that person and smokers who value their health and the health of their loved ones should stop smoking.
